Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation

The Asbestos Diseases Research Institute aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of asbestos-related diseases and at the same time to contribute to more effective measures to prevent exposure to asbestos.

The objective is to promote the research of asbestos and asbestos-related diseases (ARDs) and to aspire to provide leadership and excellence in the process.

Principal research areas

  1. Public health and preventive research on asbestos-related diseases including themes on epidemiology, quality of life studies, patient support activities, education and training, and assessment of the global burden of asbestos-related diseases.
  2. Laboratory research focusing on malignant pleural mesothelioma and in particular the identification of new biomarkers and therapeutic approaches to this disease.
  3. Clinical studies to develop and apply new targets for treatment.
