AAMRI Submission on the Australian Medical Research & Innovation Strategy

AAMRI Submission on the Australian Medical Research & Innovation Strategy

6th June, 2016

AAMRI fully supports the recommendations of the Strategic Review of Australian Health and Medical Research (the McKeon Review), which provides an aspirational blueprint for Australian health and medical research, and the implementation of which is now possible through the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). In our attached submission (below) we highlight four high level areas of utmost importance for the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Strategy, and outline how they can be addressed.

These are:

  1. Effective resourcing of the health and medical R&D pipeline to improve research impact
  2. Advanced Health Research & Translation Hubs to drive research into health outcomes
  3. Balanced investment in priority-driven and investigator-driven research
  4. Full, transparent funding to underpin an effective, efficient & sustainable medical research sector.
