AAMRI submission to the 2016 National Research Infrastructure Roadmap Capability Issues Paper

AAMRI submission to the 2016 National Research Infrastructure Roadmap Capability Issues Paper

30th September, 2016

As part of the process to develop a National research Infrastructure Roadmap an Issues Paper was released for comment. AAMRI put forward a submission in response highlighting the importance of long-term and stable investment to deliver maximum value for money as well as the best scientific outcomes.

The submission notes that to gain access to overseas research infrastructure Australia needs to have high quality research infrastructure of its own to make available in return. The importance of research workforce skills, and the need to invest in people as well as equipment are also considered in the submission.

AAMRI also calls for a fair and transparent access structure to govern the access arrangements to national infrastructure, keeping access costs as low as possible, and using scientific excellence to make decisions over access arrangements.
