Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Celebrating and committing to diversity in Australian health and medical research in all ways, including gender, race, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
AAMRI is committed to diversity and inclusion in medical research. We will work with our members and will take a leading role to promote inclusivity, with a focus on improved retention, promotion and attraction of women and underrepresented groups to work in the medical research sector.
We also aim to build on, complement and collaborate with the work of other agencies and bodies working to advance equality, diversity and inclusion.
What we’re doing
AAMRI has established an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to advocate for change and provide guidance on best practice for medical research institutes. In 2021, the Committee released a five year GEDI Strategy and Action Plan outlining four key priority areas. A new version strategy for 2026-2030 will be released later in 2026.
AAMRI surveys the workforce of its members every two years, and will continue to develop and broaden evaluation of diversity and inclusion and continue sharing these insights with our members and key stakeholders.
