AAMRI NSW Collaboration

AAMRI NSW is working in partnership with the NSW Government to act as a convenor and coordinator of collaborative projects that will sustain and grow the medical research sector.

The broad aims are to:  

• Support the successful implementation of the NSW Health Research and Innovation Strategy.  

• Help position NSW as an attractive location for health and medical research industry partnerships.  

The specific aims of the collaboration projects are to:  

• Improve AAMRI NSW members’ responses to emerging health and research opportunities​. 

• Address the rising full costs of research and improve the financial viability of NSW medical research institutes. 

• Improve communication, networking, and collaboration across the sector.  

This Collaboration has been funded by Office for Health and Medical Research (OHMR) over three years and the projects which are progressing in 2025/26 are:  

• Develop a shared strategy for how NSW MRIs can excel at AI enabled medical research

• Ensure the NSW Health Single Digital Patient Record project is designed to deliver data that can be used in medical research, translation and commercialisation

• Answer the question ‘How to improve the commercialisation of health and medical research in NSW medical research institutes?’​

• Integrate and upgrade NSW clinical trials infrastructure by operationalising the Consumer Engagement recommendation from the Clinical Trials Summit
